Coaching Staff

Monica Severson - Severson joined the staff in the fall of 2006 as an assistant and was named head coach of the program prior to the 2007-08 season. In her first two seasons as head coach, Wartburg captured its third and fourth Iowa Conference team titles over the last five years, earned berths in the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division III national tournaments and hosted the national meet and ended 10th in the team race in 2008. The 10th place effort marked the third time since 2005 the program has been in the national top 10.

She has a strong background in golf, having served on the NCAA Division III national women's golf committee from 1995 to 2000. Severson is also Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman's Administrator for Wartburg's athletic department.

Severson led the Knights' women's basketball program to great heights from 1988-2005, posting five Iowa Conference titles, three NCAA Division III Elite Eight berths, and nine NCAA Division III national tournament appearances. She ranks in the top 40 all-time for career wins (335) and winning percentage (.719).
