Walker, the
program's all-time winningest head coach, has led the Wartburg
volleyball program to five of its most successful seasons ever
in nine short years at the helm. The 30 wins in 2002 and 2003
set a new school record. The 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2003 teams qualified
for regional tournament play.
The head coach of the Knights has
been no stranger to success in her athletic career. She was a
member of two NCAA Divison III national championship softball
teams in 1991 and 1993 at Central College and earned All-American
honors her junior and senior seasons. She was also a co-captain
of both the volleyball and softball teams during her senior year.
Walker came to Wartburg from Olivet
College in Michigan, where she had been head women's volleyball
and softball coach. She joined the Olivet staff in 1997 as an
assistant professor in health and wellness along with her coaching
duties.
After graduating from Central,
she earned a M.S. degree in exercise and sport science at Iowa
State University, where she was also a teaching assistant.
Mashallah Farokhmanesh
Farohkmanesh joined the Knights volleyball staff in the summer of 2008 after spending the last four seasons as an associate head coach at the University of Iowa. He has extensive experience as both a coach and player.
He was a member of the Pahlavi High School volleyball team in his native country of Iran, winning three state championships. He played on a men's team that won two collegiate championships as an undergraduate at Teacher Training College. Following his graduation, Farohkmanesh played for the Iranian National Team for seven years, earning captain honors.
Along with his stint with the Hawkeyes, he has coached at Brigham Young University, Weber State University, and Washington State University. He helped lead Washington State to two Elite Eight national tourney appearances. |
