WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 2/2 Wartburg women's basketball team (29-0 overall) was selected to host NCAA Sectional Round games this weekend. The Knights will host No. 7/11 Trine (26-3) Friday at 8 p.m. and East Texas Baptist University (24-6) and No. 6/8 St. Thomas (27-2) will play in the other Sweet Sixteen game at 5:30 p.m. Friday's winners will advance to Saturday's Elite Eight game at 7 p.m.
This marks the first time Wartburg has hosted NCAA games for women's basketball since 2001. This will be the first season Levick Arena hosts an NCAA Tournament, as the games in 2001 were in the old Knights Gym, which was torn down for the W to be built.

The Series
This marks the inaugural meeting between Wartburg and Trine.

The Knights received the automatic bid as they won the Iowa Conference Tournament Championship and will make their 12
th overall appearance and third-straight in the NCAA
Tournament.
The Orange and Black are one of five teams in all NCAA divisions that remain undefeated.

Senior Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) is the leading scorer for the Knights with 15.1 PPG. She also has a team-high 172 assists, and 67 steals. Classmates Miranda Murphy (Alleman) and Morgan Neuendorf (Plainfield) follow with 11.6 and 11.0 PPG, respectively. This duo co-leads the team with 5.4 rebounds/game.
Career Leader List Watch
Katie is sixth with 1,408 points, the all-time career leader with 522 assists, third with 186 three-point field goals, and third with 447 free throws.
Twin sister Kristie is the program's career leader in three-point field goals at 238. She is also 12th with 1,072 points.
The Sommer twins became the program's leader in games played (115) this past Saturday.
Miranda Murphy is 11th with 1,087 points.
Senior Aryn Jones (Marion) ranks second with 115 blocked shots.
Single Season Leader List Watch
Katie is seventh in free throws (140) and broke her own single season record in assists as she has 172 to to date. She has set the mark in each of her last three seasons.
Jones is tied for sixth in blocked shots (39).
Trine
The Thunder received an at-large bid as they lost in their conference tournament championship in overtime to Hope. This is the first appearance in the Sweet Sixteen round for the program. Trine has set a new school record with 26 wins.
Brandi Dawson leads the team at 14.4 PPG and Hayley Martin joins her in double digits at 11.2. Martin is the team's leading rebounder with 6.4 boards/game.
East Texas Baptist
This is East Texas Baptist's first NCAA Tournament appearance under first-year head coach Rusty Rainbolt. The Tigers won the American Southwest Conference tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament after finishing 3-22 last season.
Kim Childress leads the team in scoring at 14.1 PPG and has only one senior in Katy Boren.
St. Thomas
The Tommies won the MIAC tournament to earn the automatic bid.
