MEQUON, Wis.-- The Wartburg volleyball team split its final matches at the IIAC/NAAC Crossover Challenge Saturday. The Knights fell 3-2 to Aurora
(25-17,23-25,25-22,23-25,16-14) but defeated host-Concordia Wisconsin 3-2
(21-25,25-21,22-25,27-25,15-13) in the finale.
Against Aurora, senior Aryn Jones (Marion) set another career-best with 24 kills. Junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) joined her in double digits with 17, a career mark of her own.
Senior Maria Brown (Peosta) had 31 assists and junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) followed at 30.
Freshman Katie Foster (Charles City) had a team-best 31 digs. Blough had 16 and Brown had 13 as each had a double-double.
Against the Falcons, the teams traded set wins to force a fifth.
Blough surpassed her career-high with 18 kills in this game. Jones also had 18 and senior Maddie Miller (Johnston) had 11. Erbes had 31 assists and 11 digs. Foster matched her total in the previous match in digs.
Wartburg returns to the court Wednesday when it hosts Buena Vista.
