INDIANOLA, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team finished undefeated in Iowa Conference play in its 3-1 (25-8,25-20,23-25,25-16) win over Simpson Friday. This was the first undefeated conference slate for Wartburg since 2013.



The Knights are 20-5 on the season and 8-0 in IIAC matches, while the Storm are 9-15, 1-7.

Senior Aryn Jones (Marion) led all players with 14 kills. Junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) and sophomore Abby Staebell (Hudson) narrowly missed double digits with nine kills.

Senior Maria Brown (Peosta) had 21 assists and junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) had 20 as they co-ran the offensive. Freshman Katie Foster (Charles City) had 26 digs.

In the first set, the Orange and Black jumped to an 13-5 lead and never looked back. A similar story rang true in the second set as they took the 4-0 lead which was never relinquished.

The score of the third set remained close and was tied at 20-20. Wartburg was able to fight off set point three times, until a Simpson kill gave the home team the frame.

The Knights built their lead to 16-7 in the fourth set and won the match on a kill from Jones.

The Orange and Black conclude their regular season Saturday at Augustana's Halloween Invite.
