Cox Named Assistant Softball Coach, Coaching Additions Announced

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Kirsten Cox has been named the assistant softball coach at Wartburg College, head coach Jamie Mueller announced today.

Cox comes to Wartburg from Dunedin High School in Dunedin, Florida, where she served as the assistant coach. She brings college coaching experience at the Division II level from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia.

She is a 2011 graduate of Eckerd College and is currently pursuing a master's degree of coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University Irvine.

Mueller also announced the addition of volunteer assistants Morgan Pigusch and Adrian Norris to the coaching staff.

"Cox, Pigusch, and Norris bring a great deal of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the program," Mueller said. "I'm thrilled to work with such a well-rounded and passionate coaching staff as we work to continue our climb to the top of the Iowa Conference."

Pitching coach Heather Hupke will return for her second year with the Knights. Hupke came to Wartburg after serving as the head coach of Briar Cliff and Buena Vista and is currently the head coach at Independence High School.

"I am excited to have Coach Hupke back for another season. We saw huge improvements in our pitching staff last year and are excited to watch them continue to grow under Coach Hupke's expertise."
