WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg men's basketball team (3-0) upset No. 21 ranked UW-Oshkosh (1-1) on Saturday 83-72. The win secured the Buzz Levick Tournament title for the Knights.
UW-Oshkosh's largest lead of the game was 17 points in the first half. Wartburg cut the margin to ten to end the period trailing 43-33. In the second half, the Knights outscored the Titans 50 to 29, scoring 23 bench points, for the comeback win. The Orange and Black held the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories.
Junior Nate Woeste (Atkins) was the top-scorer for the Knights with 17 points. Sophomore Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) had 15 points and senior Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added 10 more. Woeste, senior Lenart Kalan (
Skofja Loka, Slovenia) and senior Nick Webber (Peosta) all tied for the team-high in assists, recording four apiece.Â
Sabus and Junior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) each tallied six rebounds on the night.
The All-Tournament team was annouced at the completion of the finals game. Woeste was named MVP and Cannon was the other Knight to earn All-Tournament honors.
