Ten Named ITA Scholar Athletes

Greiner was named an ITA Scholar Athlete for the third time in her career.
WAVERLY, Iowa—Ten tennis players were named ITA Scholar Athletes for their work in the classroom, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association organization announced today.

To be eligible for this award, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

Receiving this honor on the men’s side was Josh Trueblood and Blayne Willadsen.

This marks the second consecutive honor for the duo and third overall for Trueblood.

On the women’s side, eight players were selected: Lindsay Greiner, Michelle McKenzie, Claire Evans, Elizabeth Heying, Leanna Jenkins, Danielle Miller, Emily Rasmussen and Nancy Seeberg.

This marks the third career honor for both Greiner and Jenkins.

“I am very proud of the fact that our program not only produces great tennis players but also outstanding students,” said head coach Matt Tyler. “Receiving this award shows that we work just as hard in the classroom as we do on the tennis court.”
