Wartburg Hosts First- and Second-rounds of NCAA Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's soccer team will host first- and second-round matches of the NCAA Tournament this weekend.

This marks the fourth overall and third consecutive NCAA appearance by the Knights.

The Orange and Black (12-4-3 overall) received an at-large bid.

Wartburg will face Cal Lutheran Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Concordia-Moorhead and Lake Forest will play at 5 p.m.

The second-round game will be played Sunday at 5 p.m.

Pending NCAA approval, all games will be live streamed.

A Look at the Field:
Lake Forest (14-4-2):

The Foresters qualified for the NCAA Tournament as they won the Midwest Conference title.

Michelle Greeneway leads the squad with 40 points (16 goals and eight assists).

Four teammates join her with double digits: Holly Lesperance has 34, Lisa Sorensen has 16, Becky Esrock has 12 and Anya Moran has 12.

Bri Scheibinger has eight shutout wins in the goal.

Lake Forest enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak.

California Lutheran (17-4-0):
Taylor Will paces her team with 31 points (14 goals and three assists).

Mayra Virgen follows with 21 points and Kristina Hulse has 12 points.

Goalkeeper Kristin Bailey has 10 shutouts on the year.

The Regals earned an at-large bid to the tournament.

#14 Concordia-Moorhead (15-3-2):
Sarah Rounds leads the Cobbers with 31 points.

Gina Weiss has 20 points and Elizabeth Robinson has 12 points.

Ali Nelson has 10 shutout victories on the season.

Concordia-Moorhead qualified for the tournament by winning the MIAC tournament.

Wartburg (12-4-3):
The Knights received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Senior Kaylee Benning (Waverly) has a team-best 34 points (15 goals and four assists).

Classmate Cathy Reiter (Buckingham) follows with 29 points (11 goals and seven assists).

Two teammates, juniors Anna Aquino (Bettendorf) and Rachel Torry (Urbandale) also have double-digit points with 14 and 11, respectively.

Senior Monica Noti (Carol Stream, Ill.), the program's all-time leader in shutouts has seven shutout wins on the season.
