CEDAR RAPIDS-- Wartburg placed an Iowa Conference-best 62 on the Fall Academic All-Conference, the conference office announced today.
Three hundred thirteen student-athletes from the Conference’s eight fall championship sports met the requirements for recognition.
To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least one year in residence and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
The Fall 2012 membership of the All-Academic Team is comprised of 92 seniors, 87 juniors, and 134 sophomores.
Ninety-three of the student-athletes are soccer players (58 women, 35 men). Cross country was next with 77 student-athletes (45 women, 32 men), followed closely by football with 67. Rounding out the Fall 2012 honorees are 41 volleyball players, 20 women’s tennis players and 15 women’s golfers.
