WOMEN’S
JAVELIN
Tiffany Masuhr, a senior from Richard Stockton, claimed
the women’s javelin title with a throw of 148-10. Mashur
finished second in the event last year, and her longest toss this
year was 143-6 prior to Saturday’s championship efforts.
Sophomore Brittni Stewart (Colby-Sawyer) took second at 144-5.
Southern Maine’s Kristen Sinclair was third at 139-8.
WOMEN’S
TRIPLE JUMP
Doreen Nagawa, a sophomore from Willmington College,
won the triple jump, leaping 41-1.75, a Division III season-best
mark, as well as a Walston-Hoover Stadium record. She finished
second in the event at the 2004 National Championship. Tessa Donoghue
(Westfield State) was second with a jump of 39-9.25, while Luther
College’s Katie Pettigrew took third at 39-3.75. Pettigrew
was also an All-America honoree in 2004.

400-METER RELAY
College of New Jersey (Khristelle Manuyag, Jessica Bonelli,
Brittny Boyd, Tiffany Clark) claimed the 4x100-meter relay title
for the second consecutive year, as it set a Walston-Hoover Stadium
record time of 47.04. Carthage College (Caretha Carroll, Sheana,
Veronica Hunter, Muffy Israel) finished second at 47.26, while
St. Benedict (Patti Clintsman, Sarah Nezworsksi, Jennifer Dalhed,
Bethany Keene) took third with a time of 47.55.
WOMEN’S
1,500-METER RUN
Senior Missy Buttry (Wartburg) earned her third national
title in the women’s 1,500-meter run with a Walston-Hoover
Stadium record time of 4:27.77. She led the race from the starting
line, bettering second-place Brigid Powers (St. Thomas) by five
seconds, as Powers finished with a time of 4:32. 41. Jenna Mitchler
(Wisconsin-Stevens Point) took third with a time of 4:33.24, edging
out fourth-place Gina Lucrezi (DeSales), who finished at 4:33.41.
Both Powers and Lucrezi were 2004 All-America honorees.

100-METER HURDLES
2004 National Champion Sheana Grigsby (Carthage) claimed
her second consecutive title, becoming the fourth repeat champion
in the women’s 100-meter hurdles since 1996. Saturday, she
posted a Division III season-best time of 14.08. Haverford College
sophomore Aislinn Sowash, a 2004 All-America honoree, took second
at 14.36, while Liz Goergen (Wisconsin-Stevens Point) finished
third with a time of 14.42. Both the fourth-place finisher Denay
Caldwell (New Jersey City) and fifth-place finisher Jennifer Stafslien
(Wisconsin-Eau Claire) earned All-America honors in the event
for the second consecutive year.

400-METER DASH
College of New Jersey’s Tiffany Clark won the women’s
400-meter dash title with a Division III season-best time of 54.59;
she had owned the season-best time of 54.94 entering the championship
event . Clark took second in the 400-meter dash in 2004. Sue Abbring
(Calvin) finished second at 55.10, while Ashlee Robertson (Oneonta
SUNY) was third with a final time of 55.16. Besides Clark, Gena
Rawlins (Illinois Wesleyan) was the only 2004 All-America honoree
to repeat as All-America; she finished eighth at 58.52.

100-METER DASH
New Jersey City’s Diana Lawson won the women’s
100-meter dash title with a time of 11.82, edging out second-place
Precious Macklin (Lincoln), who ran 11.85. Mechelle Barnwell,
a sophomore at City College of New York, took third (11.90). Brittny
Boyd (College of New Jersey) and Tameka Jackson (Rutgers Camden)
were repeat All-America honorees from 2004.

800-METER RUN
Wisconsin-Platteville sophomore Marcia Taddy grabbed
the women’s 800-meter run title with a time of 2:11.54,
a Walston-Hoover Stadium record. Alicia Andrews (Willamette) finished
second, a repeat of her 2004 performance, as she ran a 2:12.62
on Saturday. Wartburg College’s Heidi Porter, a freshman
from Manson, Iowa, finished third at 2:13.68. Joanna Simonis (Bryn
Mawr), who finished second in 2004, was fourth Saturday (2:13.77).

400-METER HURDLES
Emily Lepley (Sesquehanna) won the women’s 400-meter
hurdles with a Walston-Hoover Stadium record time of 61.20. Shannon
McGrane (Willamette) took second with a time of 61.30, while 2004
All-America honoree Stephanie Avery (Wartburg) took third with
a 62.37. Two other 2004 All-Americas repeated in 2005: Jen Dias
(Rensselar Poly) finished fourth (62.39) and Laura Hamilton (Calvin)
finished eighth (85.39).
WOMEN’S
200-METER DASH
Diana Lawson (New Jersey City) set a Division III season-best
time in the women’s 200-meter dash, as she ran 24.10 en
route to her second individual National Championship of the day
(100-meter dash, 11.82). Precious Macklin (Lincoln) finished second
to Lawson in the 200 (24.27), as she did in the 100, as well.
2004 third-place finisher Sue Abbring (Calvin) took third Saturday,
as well, running a 24.38.
WOMEN’S HAMMER THROW
Kelly Godsey (Bates) grabbed the women’s hammer
throw title with a throw of 195-4 in Saturday’s competition.
2004 National Champion in the hammer throw, Robyn Jarocki (Wisconsin-Oshkosh),
finished second to Godsey with a throw of 184-10. Jarocki claimed
both the 2005 shot put and discus titles, as Godsey took second
in both events. Anne Baker (Rochester) finished third at 175-2.
WOMEN’S
5,000-METER RUN
Missy Buttry (Wartburg) won her third consecutive women’s
outdoor 5,000-meter run title, posting a Walston-Hoover Stadium
record time of 16:11.90. With the win she became just the third
woman in NCAA history to win the event in three consecutive seasons
(Julia Kirtland, Macalester, 1985-87). Carter Hamill (Amherst)
finished second for the second consecutive year with a time of
16:39.02, while Natalie Retrum of Luther took third (17:02.14).
WOMEN’S
1,600-METER RELAY
College of New Jersey (Carolyn Gray, Brittny Boyd, Jessica
Bonelli, Tiffany Clark) won the women’s 4x400-meter relay
Saturday with a Division III season-best time of 3:45.58. Washington’s
(St. Louis) team of Danielle Wadlington, Natalie Badowski, Laura
Ehret, Michelle McCully took second at 3:46.13, while Wartburg
(Stephanie Arey, Amy Koester, Kelli Marlow, Bridget Burns) finished
third with a time of 3:46.14.
