Outdoor
facilities
Wartburg has some of the finest outdoor athletic facilities.
Walston-Hoover Stadium has an eight-lane track and uses
FieldTurf, an all-weather surface of artificial grass
also used by NFL and NCAA Division I teams. Since the
stadium opened prior to the 2001-02 academic year, the
Knights’ football program has ranked near the top
of Division III in attendance, while the men’s and
women’s outdoor track and field teams have hosted
some of the top events in the country, including the 2005
NCAA Division III national championships. The new soccer
field and throwing venue for track and field are located
nearby.
Hertel Field houses the
11-time Iowa Conference baseball champions. Lynes Field
has hosted numerous NCAA Division III regional softball
tournaments. Both sports also now boast top-notch indoor
practice facilities. Wartburg’s outdoor tennis courts
are just north of the football stadium. |
