Wartburg has had 63 studentathletes earn academic All-American
awards since 1970 with 46 since 1990.
• A student-athlete
earned a prestigious NCAA postgraduate scholarship for the fourth
year in a row; 19th since 1991.
• Qualified
for the national tournament in men’s and women’s
cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track and
field, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field,
men’s soccer, wrestling, softball, and women’s golf.
• 28 indoor
and outdoor track All- American honors; 17 All-American awards
at outdoor nationals — sixth consecutive year with 10-or-more.

• National
Golf Coaches Association and Golf Coaches Association of America
named three Wartburg women and two men Scholar All-Americans.
• Six individual
All-American performances at 2007 NCAA Division III wrestling
championships; at least five individual wrestlers have won All-American
honors annually since 1995.
• Had a
National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American
for the 15th consecutive year. Wartburg was ranked No. 13 on
the NWCA’s Division III top 20 scholar team list. |

Represented at the NCAA Division III women’s golf championships
for the fourth consecutive season. Andrea Schiltz, a threetime
national qualifier, tied for 15th.
• Third
consecutive NCAA Division III Sweet 16 berth in men’s
soccer.
• One of
only 52 colleges in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and the NAIA
to have its men’s and women’s soccer teams named
to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America team academic
lists.
• All-American
honors in men’s soccer for the second time in three years.
Harrison Kibombo-Lugujjo and Luke McClyman were the third and
fourth all-time to be honored.
• Had second
and third softball All-Americans since 1998 as second baseman
Steph Howe and outfielder Ashley Steines earned the awards.
• Three
coaches received national honors. Marcus Newsom was United States
Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division
III indoor women’s Coach of the Year; Jim Miller the Amateur
Wrestling News’ Man of the Year, and Jim Conlon NSCAA’s
Division III West Region men’s soccer Coach of the Year. |
